What has your experience been with the Mixed Chicks products? I first discovered this a few months ago and thought it would be too thick for my hair type because I have very fine hair strands but I was searching for a leave-in conditioner, so I picked up the leave-in to give it a try and have been through two bottles since! Its SUPER light-weight on my hair and doesn’t weigh it down at all. The best part about it is that I can literally just use that as the only product for my wash-n-go’s and my curls will be very moisturized and defined.
What makes them different than other hair/beauty products you tried in the past? Like I said, I have very fine hair strands but I have type 3B curls. So it’s hard for me to find products that will moisturize my curls but at the same time, not weigh them down or cause too much buildup. The Mixed Chicks products have been my happy medium – I get the moisturized, defined curls without sacrificing the volume and bounce.
Do you have a Go-To or token Mixed Chick Product you cannot go without? YES! The Mixed Chicks leave-in conditioner is hands-down my most used product for my wash-n-go’s.
How has having a product specifically for your biracial/ethnic/multiracial background impacted your beauty regime? This product line allows me to bring out the texture of my curls without having to load up on a variety of different products that are geared towards different aspects of my curls. With these products I get definition, bounce, volume, and moisture all in one which is convenient, not to mention it SIGNIFICANTLY cuts back on the time spent on my hair!
How do your curls/hair texture represent your cultural/ethnic background? I am fully Egyptian so my hair texture reflects the blend of African and European influence in my country. Half of my family has straight/wavy hair and the other half has very tight coily curls – I got the blended results.
What is one feature of the Mixed Chicks brand that empowers your hair/beauty care? That it tames frizz so my curls look super defined with minimal effort on my part!
If you could define Your Hair Story in one word what would it be? Empowering
Why is the hair revolution celebrating natural/healthy hair types vital for our generation? It’s important for us, especially kids at a young age, to feel confident and sexy in our curls. I am an aspiring lawyer and curls have this stigma of not “looking business professional” which is disrespectful in my opinion. I have been told multiple times to wear my hair straight during interviews or when I’m in the office, and I just don’t accept that. I think it’s crucial to not only celebrate natural/healthy/KINKY CURLY hair amongst ourselves, but to also fight the stigma that it’s not “tamed” enough for others. I love that natural and healthy curls is slowly, but surely, becoming part of the mainstream beauty standard.
If your ‘Mixed Chick’ story were a song, what would it be? Warrior – Demi Lovato….it’s such a powerful song!
