Like our customers, hair comes in all shades, textures and shapes unique to each individual and here at Mixed Chicks we want to celebrate that to the utmost extent. Meet our exquisite Mixed Chicks women, men, and children who exhibit beauty from the root and give us honest, bold stories that we are honored to share with you.

Saphaire

What has your experience been with the Mixed Chicks products? My experience with Mixed Chicks has been wonderful. I’ve heard so much about it through my family but never seemed to get around to try the product until a couple months ago and since then it’s been my fav!

What makes them different than other hair/beauty products you tried in the past? This product Is different from any other product I’ve tried because it conditions my hair and givesdefinition and hold. It is weightless so my hair does not feel droopy. I have naturally thick hair so the volume my hair maintains with the product is great too. My hair usually gets frizzy and the leave- in maintains that as well.

Do you have a go-to or token Mixed Chick Product you cannot go without? YES! The Mixed Chicks Leave-In-Conditioner.

How has having a product specifically for your cultural/biracial/ethnic/multiracial background impacted your beauty regime? Having a product that is for my ethnic hair is AMAZING. When I was a adolescent, I never knew how to take care of my hair. I kept perming it because I wanted to have texture like the other girls. I wanted long length and straight hair. That was all I cared about. It wasn’t until 2012 when I decided to look into products that best worked for me. It all started with a hair gel first then transformed into shampoos. I’m not reaching for a box of chemicals every 2 months anymore so my beauty regime is more condensed.

How do your curls/hair texture represent your cultural/ethnic background? I am bi-racial. Hawaiian and African American. Both hair textures are thick and curly/wavy and long. It represents my cultures because it is said in my Hawaiian family that the thicker your hair is the more prosperous your life is to be.

What is one feature of the Mixed Chicks brand that empowers your hair/beauty care? I really admire that the brand is unbiased. When it is advertised, you can tell the product is for all shades not just one particular group.

If you could define Your Hair Story in one word what would it be? Strength.

Why is the hair revolution celebrating natural/healthy hair types vital for our generation? Celebrating your hair is one thing but I think ACKNOWLEDGING your natural hair is vital for our generation because TIMES HAVE CHANGED. There are more and more multi-racial individuals around the world and not all of us have what society will see as “good hair”. In a sense, your hair is a part of who you are. From the root to the tip, it’s something that you can’t change.

If your ‘Mixed Chick’ story were a song, what would it be? Don’t Touch My Hair by Solange . This song describes how everyone has their own hair and their own style. Sometimes people will try to imitate you, or sometimes they want you to imitate them, or put pressure on you if you don’t look a certain way. “Don’t Touch My Hair” is about praising your style. It’s cool to be you.

Do you have any go-to beauty/hair bloggers or vloggers who inspire or help your hairstyles? Yes , I actually learned about great products through a hair blogger on YouTube . Her name is “MoKnowsHair”. She breaks down products she believes in by explaining the benefits of the ingredients and she does demos on different hair textures . From hair styles to wash-n-go’s , Mo is my YouTube homegirl.
