Brandi

What does being (“Mixed, Multiracial or Bi-racial) mean to you in 2017?

Growing up I always struggled with my reality of being biracial. I wasn’t “Spanish enough” for the Latin community and “I appeared” as too much or better than the black community. So, I struggled with blending in or feeling wanted. In 2017, being biracial is a new norm and I love it! Being Biracial is more acceptable now then it’s ever been and it brings me joy to see and read of all the beautiful and empowering biracial faces and their stories.

Do you have a Go-To or token Mixed Chick Product you cannot go without?

My go-to Mixed Chick product would have to be the Deep Conditioner. It’s the first product I used from Mixed chicks and I haven’t stopped buying it since. It leaves my hair so soft and manageable

How has having a product specifically for your cultural/biracial/ethnic/multiracial background impacted your beauty regime?

I always had curly hair but I never knew how to take care of it. When I started to really learn and get to know my hair, like most ladies, I became a product junkie. My product collection was good but it lacked the consistency I needed for my regime. Having products like Mixed Chicks gave me that consistency I needed. It truly caters to the needs of my hair.

Do you use any other Mixed Chicks products as part of your beauty routine? (Paddle Brushes/Make-Up/ Soap/Spring Bands)

Of Course! Mixed Chicks Deep Conditioner and Leave-In Conditioner are my faithful products! I just recently tried the styling cream for a twist out and I love the shine and hold it gave my twist out! I also been using the foundation and bronzer stick a lot lately and I love the glow that the bronzer gives my skin.

What new 2017 Mixed Chicks product are you interested in trying out? (New Products on MixedChicks.Net)

I’m interested in trying the daily hair dress. I’m curious to see how a moisturizer for dry hair would work out for me.

How do your curls/hair texture represent your cultural/ethnic background?

My hair is a huge part of who I am. All the women in my family have curly hair but my curls represent the diversity I learned to accept and challenge within myself.

What is one feature of the Mixed Chicks brand that empowers your hair/beauty care?

The name of the brand Mixed Chicks is empowering because… well, I am a “mixed chick” lol. It’s a lot easier to find hair products that cater to curly hair today than it was a couple years ago; and even now, companies are still trying to get it right. I was ecstatic when I saw Mixed Chicks on the shelves and I was even more ecstatic to feel and see it work!

Why is the hair revolution celebrating natural/healthy hair types vital for our generation?

For years’ women of color denied the beauty of their natural hair texture, mainly because society seen black hair as difficult and unacceptable. So, black women masked their curls with chemicals and wigs and so on. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m very pro wigs and weaves but it’s important to know and accept your hair so that you know how to take care of it. No one person have the same hair; there’s a reason for that and we should celebrate it!

Is there a (Mixed/Multiracial/Bi-racial) celebrity who empowers you?

Tia and Tamera Mowry empowered me a lot! I grew up watching their classic sitcom Sister, Sister. I admired their beautiful curls and hairstyles so much I wanted it for myself but my insecurities got in the way. I eventually stopped caring about the opinions others had on my hair and I started to rock my natural curls just like Tia and Tamera.

Do you have any go-to beauty/hair bloggers or vloggers who inspire or help your hairstyles? (If you are a blogger/vlogger please feel free to share information on your page/brand

Of course, I do! While I was going through my own hair journey, I watched a lot of YouTube videos. I watched a lot of Alyssa Forever, NaturalNeiicey, BiancaRenee, StyledbyKami, and Sunkissed Alba. Even with my own knowledge on natural hair, I still support these ladies channel today because their videos are amazing and still very helpful.

I just recently decided to start a channel of my own (BrandiChristina) and on my channel, I wanted to not only give my own natural hair tips but to encourage others on their own Journey as well because at the end of the day, there’s no rule book for natural hair. It’s all a learning process.
