Color Treated Hair

Color Treated Hair Pic 1

We all love to switch up our look from time to time, and one of Mixed Chicks favorite ways to express uniqueness is by changing up our hair color. So, if you have color treated hair it’s time to tune in on ways you can keep that color looking fresh.

The first step you need to take to ensure that you are keeping that color for as long as possible is making sure you are using a sulfate-free shampoo. Although we love the deep cleanse of our clarifying shampoo, the Mixed Chicks sulfate-free shampoo may be a better option for you. In some instances, sulfates can strip your existing color causing color to fade faster, end up removing too much oil from the hair, which can lead to dryness, and color-treated hair tends to be on the dryer side, so it is important to get hydration wherever you can.

Next, make sure you don’t skip out on deep conditioning. Deep conditioning is essential for color-treated hair because it gives it that extra hydration, adds moisture, and can help prevent breakage. Also, if you haven’t tried a hair oil already, the Mixed Chicks Replenishing oil is great for adding shine and locking in moisture.

Last, but certainly not least, us girly girls know that washing your hair every day can dry out curls and cause breakage, but you are more prone to dryness and breakage when you have color-treated hair. It is crucial that you stay mindful of making sure you don’t over wash your color treated hair, as that can lead to dullness and dryness. To keep your hair fresh and feeling clean up until wash day, we recommend using the Mixed Chicks Dry Shampoo or the Mixed Chicks Co-Wash for in-between wash day cleansing.
