My story is very similar to every little girl that has curly hair. We’re different from our friends, so we naturally try to change our appearance to fit in. I used to look in the mirror every night, sometimes even cry, and wonder why I had to have curly hair. I hated it for the longest time. My friends with straight hair had to it “so much” easier than me, or that’s what I thought at least. About 2 to 3 times a week when I was in middle school and high school, I would straighten my hair. If I didn’t straighten it, I would either wear it up or slick it down with 2 handfuls of gel. My hair looked so awful because it was so damaged.
People always told my hair was so pretty and they would give anything to have it, but I didn’t agree with them so what they said didn’t matter to me. One day in college, I decided that I was going to just embrace my hair. I was going to stop dying it, stop applying heat on it and let it go natural. This was the best decision about my hair that I’ve ever made. However, until you find the right products for curly hair, it’s a constant struggle for it to look good. That is why I’m here to brag on Mixed Chicks products!
