Susej

What does being “Mixed, Multiracial or Bi-racial mean to you in 2017?

To me it means being a part of something unique. It makes me feel special and honored to know that I was made and brought into such a beautiful panel of cultures and history that comes with where I come from and where my family is from.

Do you have a go-to or token Mixed Chick Product you cannot go without?

For me, it would have to be the Leave-In Conditioner hands down because it defines my curls so nicely and I cannot leave it out of my hair regimen.

How has having a product specifically for your cultural/biracial/ethnic/multiracial background impacted your beauty regime?

It feels great to know that there are people out there who truly embrace the reality that we live in. The matter of the fact is that there is beauty in all hair types because that goes along with one’s race and culture. To know that a brand believes in us and takes the time to make a product around diversity truly says a lot about their values and respect for all races.

Do you use any other Mixed Chicks products as part of your beauty routine?

Yes, I also love the detangling Deep Conditioner for those days where I wash my hair and I have to take the time to detangle the large amount of curls I have which is really a struggle but that product is a God-send.

What new 2017 Mixed Chicks product are you interested in trying out?

I cannot wait to try out the Daily Hair Dress and the Curl Sculptor!

How do your curls/hair texture represent your cultural/ethnic background?

My family has usually had a mixture of soft hair texture and thick hair texture. My hair has a little bit of both which can be common in Hispanic backgrounds that have an African and Spaniard origin. I am proud of this because not everyone has curly hair or thick strands and I have grown to love the hair I was given.

What is one feature of the Mixed Chicks brand that empowers your hair/beauty care?

Just simply knowing that I am using products that embrace my blood and my DNA and just my culture in general which are beautiful in all the colors and differences its people have. It’s an amazing feeling knowing I am using something that had me in mind when it was created.

Why is the hair revolution celebrating natural/healthy hair types vital for our generation?

I feel like it extremely important just like it is essential to embrace and celebrate different body types, skin colors, races, ages, genders, etc. My generation and all the others to follow it need to know that beauty comes in all different forms and hair textures and it should not be defined by one thing but that we should all be equally beautiful no matter our differences.

Is there a (Mixed/Multiracial/Bi-racial) celebrity who empowers you?

I love celebrities like Tamera Mowry, Alicia Keys, and Adrienne Bailon who are all mixed girls that have differences and look different from each other but show how their differences is what makes them gorgeous and authentic and real.

Do you have any go-to beauty/hair bloggers or vloggers who inspire or help your hairstyles?

Yes, I love watching @farahdhukai and @curlswithapromise along with the makers of Devacurl and Sheamoisture who show not only skin care and makeup but the beauty of different hair types and how to take care of what you have and own it with your own style.
