Taylor

In 2018, do you feel the conversation around being (Multiracial/Biracial/Mixed) has shifted more positively or negatively?

In 2018 the conversation around being a mixed is seen as being more positive nowadays. I finally see other mixed girls and myself coming out of our shell and feeling more confident with wearing our natural hair out rather than having it straight and/or wearing how people say we should.

How did you find out about Mixed Chicks?

I first found out about mixed chicks from watching a curly hair routine on YouTube and the specific girl who was doing her hair used mixed chicks product. Her curls were defined , voluminous , and somewhat around my curl pattern.

What is your go-to Mixed Chicks product essential for your hair regime?

My go to mixed chick product for the best results would definitely have to be leave in conditioner. Leave in conditioner adds a moisture to the curls after shampoo . It defines and softens  each strand ,reduces frizz , and keeps curls smooth and soft. So it’s very important when going natural.

How is your cultural/ethnic background reflected in your hair? (ex: texture, length, curl pattern, etc.)

My cultural ethnic background effects my hair since I am mixed with different things. My curls are a special kind of different and something that no other girl has because it’s my hair type and no one else’s. My texture is soft from my white and Native American roots and slicks down really well. My curl pattern is different all around my hair it changes from 3a waves from my Caucasian background around the frame of my face all the way to 3b spirals from My African American background in the back of my head. I’m happy and satisfied to not just have one pattern because it shows who I am and where I come from and that I am different in a good way.

Our new campaign is focused on #itsminetodefine, What does this mean to you?

In my opinion #Itsminetodefine means that my curls are my own and I can style them how I want . Everyone’s curls are different meaning my defined look my not be how another persons defined look is . I have to learn to accept the fact that I will have some frizz here and there and that my hair is mine and frizz okay to have at times.

What’s your favorite protective style?

My favorite protective style is a slick back ponytail with LAIDDD EDGES . Reason being is because my hair isn’t all in my face and it’s quick and easy to gel my hair down before the busy school day as well as to define my curls.

Do you have any go-to beauty/hair bloggers or vloggers who inspire or help your hairstyles?

Jewelliana Palencia is my go to girl for hair inspiration . I always go to her YouTube channel for hair tips and advice for healthier hair. She always knows what products are the right way to go. She taught me how to define my curls with the right products and how to manage them and keep them healthy and moisturized.

Which platform is your go-to outlet for hair advice? (blogs, website, YouTube, Instagram)

YouTube is my go to outlet for hair inspiration and advice.

What has been your favorite new Mixed Chicks product out this year?

My favorite new mixed chick products out this year would have to be the deep conditioner and the leave in conditioner because it provides moisture for strengthened curls.
