Jennifer

What does being “Mixed, Multiracial or Bi-racial mean to you in 2017?

Being mixed, multiracial or bi-racial mean to me is that I can freely embrace my heritage without any shame, disgust or fear.

Do you have a go-to or token Mixed Chick Product you cannot go without?

Yes!! My Go-To Mixed Chick Product that I cannot live without is the Deep Conditioner. It gives my hair “life”. This deep conditioner not only soften my cuticles; it also has an AMAZING slip, which helps with detangling. Not to mention, the smell is amazing!!

How has having a product specifically for your cultural/biracial/ethnic/multiracial background impacted your beauty regime?

There’s been a positive impact on having products that caters to my ethnic background. Growing up, there were not too many products that was suited for my hair. Either they dried my hair, stripped it or it was way too heavy for my hair type. The end result was very negative. Now, I can purchase products that will give my hair the natural nutrients that it needs. I can also see faster results since I’ve been using products such as Mixed Chicks. My hair is retaining length, strength, and manageability

Do you use any other Mixed Chicks products as part of your beauty routine?

Yes! I faithfully use Mixed Chicks Leave-in Conditioner. This conditioner can be used a step product. In other words, if I do not have any moisturizer for my wash and go, the leave in conditioner can be applied alone, and I will still have lots of definition along with moisture.

What new 2017 Mixed Chicks product are you interested in trying out?

There are several new 2017 Mixed Chicks products that I’m interested in trying. If I had to choose one…It will be the Curl Sculptor since I rock a wash and go almost everyday.

How do your curls/hair texture represent your cultural/ethnic background?

As a child, my father would always preach to my sisters and I saying “African Americans comes in all shapes, colors, and textures”. Not to mention, I’m also part Indonesian. Being a woman from a African American and Asian background, my hair can represent well! I’ve always embraced my black beauty with my curls, and coils. I can rock braids, fro, or kinky hair. As part Asian..my texture is very fine overall. When it’s straight..you can definitely notice my Asian roots.

What is one feature of the Mixed Chicks brand that empowers your hair/beauty care?

One feature of the Mixed Chicks brand that empowers my hair/beauty care is that it embraces women from multi-races. Mixed Chicks brand gives women like myself, products that will promote and see results in healthier hair.

Why is the hair revolution celebrating natural/healthy hair types vital for our generation?

It’s vital to celebrate natural/healthy hair types for our generation because; for so so so many generations, our hair was looked upon as ugly. Women with kinky, curly coils could be the face of beauty magazines, politics etc. We had straighten our hair to look European in order to be accepted in society. Our hair is who we are!! God gave us this mane…so embrace it because; its beautiful!! Having healthier hair…is also having a healthy lifestyle. Taking care of your hair….is an example on how you take care of yourself! Embrace and love your beauty!! Let no man tell you…your curls, coils or kinks is unacceptable. In my eyes…that’s discriminatory! If you can’t accept my natural hair….you cannot accept my culture or who I am as a human being. Take pride of who you are and where you come from!

Is there a (Mixed/Multiracial/Bi-racial) celebrity who empowers you?

Yes! Tracee Ellis Ross!!! She is phenomenal!!

Do you have any go-to beauty/hair bloggers or vloggers who inspire or help your hairstyles?

Yes!! I stay on Mahogany Curls, Simply Bianca Alexa, and Naturally Quinn’s YouTube pages! Those women helped me a ton during my natural hair journey! Love them!
