Meet our exquisite Mixed Chicks women, men, and children who exhibit beauty from the root and give us honest, bold stories that we are honored to share with you.

Carly

What does “Mixed, Multiracial or Bi-racial) mean to you in 2017?

It means to be united, coming together without looking at the outer appearance and accepting one another for who they are.

Do you have a go-to or token Mixed Chick Product you cannot go without?

Right now, I only have one product unfortunately, however it has become my most favorite product and has even accompanied me on my travels. It is the Mixed Chicks Deep Conditioner. I loved using it whilst I was on holiday, especially for the days I swam.

How has having a product specifically for your cultural/biracial/ethnic/multiracial background impacted your beauty regime?

Before returning natural I didn’t really have a regime besides the weekly roller setting and blowing out my hair. I wasn’t fazed by the products I used as long as it didn’t give me any dandruff. With Mixed Chicks whole transition a lot has changed. It’s having a morning, evening and weekly regime with the correct natural products to look after my hair making sure my hair is healthy. So, this has impacted me on every level because I now use products specifically for my type of hair which is so satisfying. My hair is thick, so I have to apply a lot more water, moisturizing creams and oils to completely coat my whole head.

Do you use any other Mixed Chicks products as part of your beauty routine?

We don’t really have access to the entire range of Mixed Chicks in South Africa, but hopefully one day.

What new 2017 Mixed Chicks product are you interested in trying out?

The Leave in Conditioner

What is one feature of the Mixed Chicks brand that empowers your hair/beauty care?

The fact that is suited for all hair types and all races. Different hair textures and this will definitely help with tackling all areas of my hair.

Why is the hair revolution celebrating natural/healthy hair types vital for our generation?

It is vital because it’s who we are! That we no longer have to hide behind what people perceive us to be. It is such a big deal being part of a movement where not only women are coming together but different race, men, young and old. Being natural is not about what looks good on the outside but more of what comes from the inside. This generation can now be bold, brave, confident and free, something we never had growing up. It’s extremely exciting to be part of it!

Is there a (Mixed/Multiracial/Bi-racial) celebrity who empowers you?

Tracee Ellis Ross – She is one woman that has never tried to be someone she is not and certainly got that from her beautiful mom Diana Ross.

Do you have any go-to beauty/hair bloggers or vloggers who inspire or help your hairstyles?

Actually Ashley, Curls with a Promise, Fro Girl Ginny, Own by Femme and the list goes on… I tend to follow hair influences with the same texture as mine, just so that I don’t beat myself up if my hair doesn’t look exactly like theirs lol. However, there are lots of hair goals and all I can do is admire.
