Desiree

What does “Mixed, Multiracial or Bi-racial) mean to you in 2017?

Being Mixed or Bi-racial in 2017 means sharing my story and having it heard and understood. In years past the platform for minorities was so much smaller and I hope today that we can all continue to do our part in making our voices heard and our faces seen!

Do you have a go-to or token Mixed Chick Product you cannot go without?

My go to product is definitely Mixed Chicks Leave-in Conditioner! I get so many compliments on my hair when I use it and it makes my hair feel so soft and alive!

How has having a product specifically for your cultural/biracial/ethnic/multiracial background impacted your beauty regime?

I cannot begin to tell you the difference having a brand of products made specifically for my type of mixed hair has made. As an actress and model I am constantly analyzing my look and I can instantly see the difference between shoots where I have used the Mixed Chicks Products and ones where I have not.

Do you use any other Mixed Chicks products as part of your beauty routine?

I have not used any other Mixed Chicks products in my beauty routine but I am excited to start working them into my beauty routine!

What new 2017 Mixed Chicks product are you interested in trying out?

This year I will definitely be trying out Mixed Chicks Paddle Brush, Straightening Serum (it says it will cut my drying time in half!), and their Gloss and Shining Hair Silk (it’s for curly and straight styles.

How do your curls/hair texture represent your cultural/ethnic background?

People are always asking me about my hair and what race I am! I feel like my wild curls are a perfect mix of everything I am mixed with…Choctaw, Irish, French Canadian, Swiss, and German.

What is one feature of the Mixed Chicks brand that empowers your hair/beauty care?

Seeing other women with their natural hair is so empowering for me. Growing up no one had hair like me and people were always commenting on my looks. I wish I had known then what I know now, that what makes me different is what makes me beautiful and powerful.

Why is the hair revolution celebrating natural/healthy hair types vital for our generation?

It is so important for women of all ages to embrace their hair and be themselves. Society has tried to hold us to the illusion that we must all look a certain way to be beautiful and really we only need to be ourselves. Beauty is in found in the individual not in the conformist.

Is there a (Mixed/Multiracial/Bi-racial) celebrity who empowers you?

Alicia Keys style has always spoken to me. She is beautiful because she is always herself. Whatever style she wears her hair it’s her own look she always looks beautiful because she is strong and embracing her individuality.

Do you have any go-to beauty/hair bloggers or vloggers who inspire or help your hairstyles?

I don’t have a specific blogger or vlogger that’s a go to. I do a combination of vlogs, magazines, and pinterest tips!
