Like our customers, hair comes in all shades, textures and shapes unique to each individual and here at Mixed Chicks we want to celebrate that to the utmost extent. Meet our exquisite Mixed Chicks women, men, and children who exhibit beauty from the root and give us honest, bold stories that we are honored to share with you.
Whitney
What does being (“Mixed, Multiracial or Bi-racial) mean to you in 2017?
Being “mixed, multiracial or bi-racial” means that you have the opportunity to embrace all cultures that you are a part of. There is nothing better than having more than one culture come together to create some magic!
Do you have a Go-To or token Mixed Chick Product you cannot go without?
My go-to,holy grail…favorite Mixed Chicks product is the Leave-In Conditioner. When I first started going to a curly salon in my city, it was one of the first times I had used the leave-in in my hair and when I tell you…curls for days, wicked definition and they lasted!
How has having a product specifically for your cultural/biracial/ethnic/multiracial background impacted your beauty regime?
Having a product that is specifically for my background is amazing. It gives me a chance to really embrace what is growing out of my head… it defines the curl and doesn’t dry out my hair. My curls give me a chance to be versatile and me.
How do your curls/hair texture represent your cultural/ethnic background?
My dad is Jamaican and my mom is Trinidadian. There are a few relatives on both sides that have the same curl pattern as me, so I don’t stand out on the curly train lol (even if I did it isn’t a bad thing!) . My mom has type 4 curls and my dad has soft 2b/3a curls.
What is one feature of the Mixed Chicks brand that empowers your hair/beauty care?
One feature of the Mixed Chicks brand that empowers my hair care is the fact that the product do what they say they will do and there is never a dull moment with my curls when I use the products!
Why is the hair revolution celebrating natural/healthy hair types vital for our generation?
The hair revolution celebrating natural/healthy hair types is vital because young girls growing up need to believe in self-love and embrace the beauty that God gave them. Having a different curl pattern from others you know makes you stand out, makes you unique and it makes you… well, YOU!!
Also, by having a youtube channel, Instagram, Twitter etc. it gives young girls the opportunity to see that there are so many people that embrace natural hair and it is okay to be who you are without having to alter your appearance. My Instagram is: @whitneyann_romeo and my YouTube channel is: Whitney Ann Romeo
What’s your Go-to summer hairstyle?
My go-to summer hairstyle is definitely the pineapple. My curls can start the day being wild and free, but in the summer heat, they make their way up into the glorious ponytail us curlies call the pineapple!
What new 2017 Mixed Chicks product are you interested in trying out?
I would love to try the paddle brush, morning after redefining foam, the slick styling tamer and the Detangling Deep Conditioner!
